| Stopped smoking 2 1/2 yrs. ago, then became addicted to Nicorette gum,
| which I grew to abuse
| (chewing, not parking in cheek; multiple pieces at a time; finally,
| chain-chewing from morning till
| night.) My doctor urged me to stop, if I could, and two weeks ago, I
| went cold turkey, while at the
| same time drastically cutting back my caffeine consumption (which was
| verging on 3 vente
| Starbucks a day.) Well, coming down has been AWFUL. The buzz I was on
| for 8 yrs. is over,
| and though I can adjust to that - I think- I'm so accustomed to chewing
| gum or smoking a cigarette
| that the greatest deprivation is the lack of something to chew. After
| having a bad experience with
| gum and breath mints (the sorbitol in them can wreak havoc on your
| digestive system if you
| consume as many as I did in 12 hrs.) I've run out of ideas. Carrots and
| celery are ok at home, but kind of noisy at the office. Pencils taste
| lousy, not to mention splinters.
| Any suggestions, anyone?

Cinnamin sticks. You just suck or maybe chew on the end of them but I
figure maybe you need something different anyway. They're not hot. That's
what I thought before I used them to quit smoking. Hope this helps.
