I've been thru that same nonsense with CC companies too - one CC I had for over 10 years abruptly changed my terms to payment due 16 days after closing date, $29 late payment fee, and 21% interest. I got burned once on the late payment fee, and I called them to terminate the card. They got all nice on me, changed payment terms, refunded the $29, and dropped my interest rate to 5.9%.

I posted before about one of my credit cards raising my interest rate from 8.9 to 21%. Now they want to raise it to the highest legal limit which is like 30%. Ok without getting in too much detail i have a perfect payment record on all debts past and present, never paid a bill late in my life. I mean NEVER. So i have the option of opting out and closing my account and i'll be paying the 21%, which was 8.9 two months ago. Balance isn't that large, so it's not really a big deal money wise. Being an honest type person i am it really pisses me off. Them are very unethical business practices in my opinion. All it takes is a greedy CEO. There is no reason for the greed of that company. I did further research they are notorious for unethical business practices like that. My advice don't do business with providian national bank. I'm surprised i noticed it in the statement. It was fine print, believe me, most people would've missed it.
