I was just reading a commentary awhile ago about how the left is
becoming more fractured everyday and instead of arguing the issues
they are attacking each other viciously. That's interesting...they're
doing to each other what they used to reserve for the other side of
the aisle. Sorta like this thread, a vicious attack followed by
discussion of the issues.
I think that the only reason we're not seeing that behavior from the
right, is that there are no challengers remaining. Given the state of
politics these days, I have no doubt that, if the Republican nomination
were to be as contested as the Democrat's currently is, we would be
seeing more of the same.
<sigh>
Why can't they *all* just stick to the issues?
As it is, its not the one with the best platform that wins, its the one
who throws the best mud. For some reason, we have come to accept, and
indeed, reward, that behavior. If it didn't work, they wouldn't adopt
that tactic. :-(
But, as I've said before, its not like anything is ever going to
*really* change, anyway, regardless of who is elected, to any office.
As the saying goes, "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss."
Underneath it all, they are all politicians, who will say anything they
feel they need to say, to get elected, regardless of what they intend to do.
Then, once elected, will forget the promises made to institute or strengthen oversight and accountability, because concentration of power into the office they were elected to is the only real objective.
