P.S. after reading the article below if you'd like to spend a little
extra time with the United Spinal Association's "Vets First", you will
find some interesting reading here.http://www.unitedspinal.org/publications/vetsfirst/
P.P.S. GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Thanks, Tick. I've signed and forwarded the Advocacy letter to my
reps.
Rep. Susan Davis is so used to hearing from me that we're on a first-
name basis, and occasionally *she* will call *me*! It can be a very
good thing to develop a rapport with the folks we've elected, and whom
we expect to advocate for the issues affecting the folks in their
districts.
They seem to really respond to the "personalized" versions of the form
letters, so I advise "personalizing" the text to your own situation --
just makes ya seem more like a real person! ;->
A few Senators and Reps do not accept e-mails, except at their
house.gov or senate.gov address. The United Spinal Association popped
up a note about one of my folks, and *included* the link to email her
at her senate.gov addy. Very, *very* nice touch, which all too many
auto-mailer folks fail to do.
I've been a big fan of theirs since enrolling in the NARCOMS program,
jointly sponsored by the Spinal Assn. and a hospital's M.S. Research
Dept. It's a program that is a "study" in itself, tracking everyone
enrolled and their treatments, disease progression, quality of life,
etc. Additionally, for those interested, it also acts as a go-between,
sending you e-mailed info about clinical trials and studies (including
NON-drug studies, for those who are cautious about taking unapproved
meds). You are not required to agree to participate in ANY of them,
and it will not affect your enrollment.
Yet another benefit is, for those enrolled in the NARCOMS study, they
send copies of the MSQR -- the M.S. Quarterly Report -- which is,
hands down, by far, THE best M.S.-related rag or mag I receive.
Chocked full of info, including at least one complete study, rather
than Abstract and Intro, or a summary. While it's a bit "technical" at
times, the authors take great, and largely successful, pains to write
in clear, understandable, jargon-minimized English.
If you're interested, go to http://www.narcoms.com for further
info. :-)
XO,
RD
