Hi,
My wife is currently being diagnosed for MS (31 years old). She's had
numbness only in her right thumb for a year now with no other
symptoms. Spine MRI shows 3 lesions and none in the brain. Her GP said
it's most likely MS. Her symptoms have not gotten worst over a year.
Is that a good sign? before that for a few months she said she had
tingling feeling in her left hand but she doesn't think that was
because of MS (she had mosquito bite that made her skin red). Anyone
experienced the same symptoms as she does on the onset? :( If so, any
medication worked on you? What were diagnosed with? Is it possible to
have symptom (numbness in one thumb) and go on for the rest of your
life with no progression? (need some light) Also, what do you think of
the this whole thing about taking vitamins to control it? Omega,
Vitamin D...etc (alternative medicine)
This is just driving me crazy :(
Let's keep this thread going for a long time.
BTW, you're all great support :)
Thx
M.
If there's one thing in MS that's consistant, its is
unpredictability. Unfortunately, that's a very scary thing. As for
the vitamins, I think that the studies indicated people who took
vitamin D were less likely to develop MS, not to control it.
My first experience with MS was double vision, but everyone seems to
be different when you get into the specifics. As for the medications,
be sure to speak with a neurologist about what treatment is best, of
course they could leave it up to you. If that's the case make sure to
do some homework and read up on statistics on efficacy and side-
effects.
You say she has lesions on her spine? Is her L'hermittes sign
positive? Have her flex her neck and look down to her toes, If she
feels electricity somewhere, that'll be because of the lesions. Not
much help since you already have the MRI, but it kinda makes it
palpable. Did she get a spinal tap?
