Speech to text software? Does anyone have any recommendations? My sister used Dragon Dictate version one for many years and would not
change to Naturally Speaking until I bought her a new computer and the
latest version, 9, of Dragon Naturally Speaking. She finally admits that
it is better, but if your machine is old and slow you might try to get the
early version. She tried the windows system a couple of years ago but
went back to her old system because she had it both at home and at the
office. Current fast machines with Windows Vista I don't know about,
apparently the Microsoft boys are building it in.
Unfortunately, although I have no personal experience with Vista (and
don't intend to), from all accounts I've read, if its like anything else
with Vista (otherwise known as Windows ME v2, if you remember what a
*colossal* failure that was), the dictated text will probably come out
looking like:
dlakd, adfdkurk sdlkfa deo883jfs0 kdface,aerr.
WinXP, the last Microsoft operating system my systems will *ever* see.
Even if it means using Debbie v1.0 (tm) (as I currently do for filling
out hand written forms, etc.), due to a current lack of voice
recognition under Linux. But I'm sure that will change, eventually. :-)
