Re: 3-day solumedrol: last resort?

Reesa,

You did not mention, since you have a vegetarian diet, you should
supplement it with a good multivitamin, high in B.
The other thing is that if you go for steroid treatment,
osteoporosis is a possibility, so a resistance (if you can, with weights)
exercise with
calcium supplements is good. Good luck.

Hi,

In the nine years since I was diagnosed as relapsing-remitting, my
illness has gradually become progressive. I have not had an attack for
the last five years, but my ability to walk has decreased dramatically.

Copaxone seems to be working well for me in preventing attacks; I was
also on Novantrone + Copaxone for several years. Also tried Avonex and
Betaseron, but they didn't work for me.

My neurologist recommended that I try quarterly 3-day infusuions of
Solumedrol because I have pretty much exhausted all my treatment
options. He says it would reduce inflammation which is probably
exacerbating my disability. I'm not too thrilled about taking a steroid
regularly.

Does anyone have experience with this? Previously, I was only given
solumedrol when I had an attack.

BTW, I eat pretty healthy, organic and vegan whenever possible.

All opinions welcome :-)
