Things must be a lot different in the Mormon Belt of Utah than the
Baptist Belt of Texas. A typical deer or even quail hunt here starts in
the morning with a pot of hot coffee, meat (steak, bacon, ham, sausage),
eggs, biscuits, hash browns and plenty of gravy. The morning hunt and
then a break for lunch with meat, taters, biscuits, plenty of gravy and
an ice cold BEER. ONE ice cold beer, two at the most. American beer on
top of all that food wouldn't give even a Mormon a buzz.
Lunch is usually followed by a few hours of fellowship, camaraderie and
maybe some horseshoes or dominoes or as the media has actually gotten
right now and then, 'business talk'. After the hunt, more food, a fire
and LOTS of beer and/or booze.

So what if Cheney and Bush had heavy drinking days? Does that mean you
think less of me too? I've done everything they've been accused of and
more. It never stopped me from being the professional I once was. Or
the perfectionist I now am.

He waited til all traces of alcohol were out of his system? What do you
base that statement on other than your own personal desire for it to be
true? Pure speculation. Actually, considering the Pacemaker, I doubt
the man would ever drink to excess.

Reported to have not used proper rifle rules? Reported by whom? They
must have been true experts in their field since he was bird hunting
with a 'shotgun'. And using birdshot and not BUCKshot as most of the
idiots were reporting.

Hunting without a license? Not at all, in fact he was hunting with a
very expensive 'non-resident' license. He 'did not' have an upland
gamebird stamp which cost an additional $7. Wanna know why? 'Cause the
stamp just started being required for this season. I didn't know about
it either. Nor did any of my friends or the man that owns the gunshop
where I purchase my license nor any of the guys I asked at the gun club.

The requirement is buried in fine print on page 54 of the Texas Parks &
Wildlife Hunting & Fishing Regulations I hold in my gunshot residue
soaked hands. My casual friend 'Brad Tollis' the local game warden
admits they are not giving tickets, only warnings for this season
because hunters of quail, turkey, pheasant, prairie chicken or
chachalaca are unaware of the new stamps.

This is only one of a half dozen new stamps including an archery stamp
for god's sake nobody seems to be aware of. It ain't exactly something
the media reports on the 6pm news. Shame on us for not sitting down and
reading the entire 112 page guide book every single year. I wonder why
famous anchor persons or their staff didn't bother to read the entire
book or talk to a game warden. And I wonder why the imbeciles in Austin
didn't print a warning on the new license "caution new stamp
requirements!"

And "what's his face" was also two sheets to the wind. Again, what do
you base that on? And shame on you.

I'm going to recant part of what I said in a previous post about
"accidents as opposed to mistakes". I now know more about the situation
than when I made that remark. If a bird flushes to the right and you
come up fast with an over/under shotgun and start tracking to the right
your peripheral vision to the right is obscured to a certain degree,
especially below shoulder level. "What's his face" was, according to
Cheney and witnesses in a depression below line-of-site 'and' came up
unannounced. I make this comment as a hunter and shooter not as an
inexperienced reporter. The shot was, finally, the shooter's
responsibility and he should, to a degree, have known where everyone
was.

And the blanket statement about jail time. Why? What law was broken?
If you are going to jail someone you should have an expectation of guilt
beyond a reasonable doubt for violating 'something' in the Texas Penal
Code. What?

Ok, we ain't talkin' politics here, we're talkin' huntin'. "Bless
Cheney's bad heart"? Uh, er, uh...nope, that statement could only be
construed as political.

Hugs til it hurts and a slobbery kiss in your ear. :-)

And bless my bad legs and bless my bad vision and bless my fatigue and
bless my arthritic fingers and bless my strong heart that some consider
black.

And bless your reasoned responce in quelling her obvious distortions of the
truth, fostered by her dislike of Cheney. It was an accident. Jail time?
For what exactly? As far as I know, accidents arent a crime.

and now i may piss many of you off.... during all my years of hunting
with heavey alcohol drinkers and non drinkers. NO one that i ever knew
of started to hunt with a beer before the hunt..
everyone at camp or just going out for a good day of pheasnat, hunting
began with curly your hair strong cups of several cups of coffee.... NO
drinking before... because it is a very seriouse responsibity when your
out with a rifle.
i belive cheney waited to report until all traces of alcohol were out of
his body... it is now known he was a past heavey drinker as was
bushy....
alcohol was drank when all come back from the hunt.... cheney also was
reported to have not used any of the rifle rules. nor did he have a
lience.....
as a hunter i can really understand why whats his face got shot... maybe
he was also two sheets in the wind....
when crap such as that happened in my non- dc area of life people went
to jail..... sure he will always remember it who wouldn't?..... that is
my belief from what i've personaly learned as a die hard hunter..... i'd
like to say bless cheneys bad heart but can't.... i ain't talkin
politics here i'm talking hunting.... dory
