Re: Sleep / Pain Option? (Flexerial)

Dave rightly implies...."Most people reject that extreme view, and some
do accept that we can control some of our internal environment by using
our mind to understand what it takes to do so. I happen to believe that
much of my health depends on how well I care for myself, but that some
things are out of my control.".....

Dave, Kant was rather full of himself as was Castaneda and his Yaqui way
of peyote torture. Life, death, pain and pleasure is neither as
difficult nor as simple as some of their implications.

A week or two completely alone with crystal clear, crisp mornings in
front of a small fire and days on a game trail will teach more than all
the hallucinogens and self righteous spirit guides ever could. I guess
it just depends on what you want to carry with you through the years.

My father died at age 75 of multiple myeloma, a very painful cancer of
the bone marrow. He lived 4 years longer than they predicted and worked
hard physically until about two weeks before he died. He used nothing
for his pain but an occasional Tylenol until the last 4 days during
which we put him on a morphine pump against his will.

His lesson to me was you put the pain in your pocket and think of what's
in front of you, not the torment that's in you. Easier said than done.
The ability to take a deep breath and 'cowboy up' has diminished over
the years with the MS and all it has gifted me with...neuropathic pain,
MS hug, TN, ADD, OCB, STML, CF, DSB and on and on.

Better living through chemistry seems to be more appealing as time goes
on. It's a shame but my appetite for a clear mind, burning sweet
grasses and the sweat lodge fades. Grandfather would be crying.
