Many of you know that Senator Schumer (D-NY) authored a bill to protect our medical and financial records. It was a good bill, addressing several types of noxious snooping. However, several his Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee staff have been caught purloining such records for political purposes. If this can be done against the Lt. Governor of MD it can be done against KKT, or Tick, or me. See this link:

More to the point, how can ANYONE get someone's credit report with just a social security number? Is that all one needs to get something from Equifax, Transunion, etc.?
Are there no controls on what these companies can release and to whom? Why not?
Apparently, fraudulently _obtaining_ the information is a crime, but _releasing_ it without proper authorizations isn't ... Hmmm.
BTW, you didn't mention it but those folks "resigned" ... as they should have ... and that the press release about this incident was released by -- the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
And you didn't say that:
"Barge, a Democratic operative who led the research unit for a liberal media watchdog group run by journalist David Brock before joining the committee in February, reported her actions to the committee's executive director, J.B. Poersch Jr., within hours. Poersch relayed the information to the U.S. attorney's office and suspended the pair with pay until Aug. 31, the official said."
"Barge and Weiner resigned earlier this month after an internal investigation. Calls to the FBI, which is probing the case, weren't returned last night." http://tinyurl.com/bqssp
Looks like the Democrats were policing themselves fairly well ...
And that's the rest of the story ... [with apologies to Paul Harvey].
