Researcher Charged With Fabricating Red-Wine Data

A veteran researcher at the University of Connecticut, well known
for his work on the heart benefits of the red-grape component
resveratrol, allegedly fabricated data in 23 papers published over a
five-year span, according to an investigation by the university and
the U.S. Office of Research Integrity.

Damn it! So we - The Netherlands - no longer have the
biggest-fraud-on- earth researcher [1]! I need a drink!

OTOH, that reserve-a-troll stuff is a dead giveaway!

[1] Professor Stapel ("stapel" means pile, in this case a pile of
crap).

I hate to disappoint you Frank, but Imo we never had the biggest-fraud-on- earth researcher. Much of the scientific prestige in South Korea was build on their world famous expert in stem cells....

Hwang Woo-suk was a professor of biotechnology at Seoul National University (dismissed on March 20, 2006) who became infamous for fabricating a series of experiments, which appeared in high-profile journals, in the field of stem cell research.

I remember this one :)

William Summerlin, who, in 1974, painted mice with Sharpies and claimed that it was a successful skin transplant.

For me it is the strongest evidence that the system works. I would rather live in a country where they sack the president for corruption then in a country where every body loves the guy and weep bitter tears when he dies.
