Yes, I thought about that, but in *this particular case* I shop there often enough, and buy enough diet ginger ale to know that it's never out of date or that these products don't move quickly enough. The store has always carried canned ginger ale, several different brands, just never diet. Now they do and it seems to move quite well.

If I'd requested something really peculiar, like, say, pickled reindeer antlers, I'd agree that your mentioned possibilities might be the case. (-:
