Bruises and gushers aren't incredibly rare, I've had them many many
times over the years (and stains on my clothes to prove it.)

Colloquially I call it "hitting a vein" but not sure that term is
justified. Maybe it is.

It's very easy to fall into a pattern of using the same good old
sites over and over again.

When I was a kid, I had a little shot-rotation workbook/chart and
the docs always asked about site rotation at every appointment, and
pointed out "look you're overusing this area why don't you try this
other area instead". This seemed to be pretty standard stuff 30 or
40 years ago but I don't see much emphasis on it today.

25 years ago, when I was first diagnosed and on insulin, I also was
instructe dto use a rottation pattern. In those days we shhot into
arms, legs adn stomaches, so I went round the body.

ditto
you can also purchase a 'rotation template' that has pieces for
upper/lower abdomen and leg front leg side and buttocks

i don't recall if they had the upper arm template as i don't like
using the upper arm........... maybe with the pen...... never thought
of that before, all the issues i had with syringes would be fixed
with the pen........ hmmm....... new rotation site available again!

Wouldn't work for me as I can only do the stomach.

well, that would be easy to fix, just use the template for your stomach!!
