Yesterday my doctor started me on Byetta - I came here looking for comments
.. Did a search
and didn't find any threads.

Also .. The tips that came with my Byetta also fit on my Lantus pen. They
are shorter though
and maybe my imagination but I think I like that better. Is there a
difference - I mean, is
it better the deeper the needle goes ??

The depth of the needle only matters if you are injecting into fatter
or thinner areas. Insulin is not meant to be injected so deep it
reaches the muscles. However if you have excess body fat in the areas
you are injecting into you may need a longer needle.

The only way to find out is to use the regular sized needle you
started with, record the BG readings for a few days and then use the
shorter needles and record the BG readings for a few days and see if
your BG went up or down or remained stable.

During that test you should not change your dose, nor your regular
eating and exercise habits.

There is an article there that explains weight gain and insulin use
and gives some suggestions on how to avoid the weight gain. Keep in
mind that it is harder for you as a type 2 injecting larger doses of
insulin to avoid weight gain than it is for a type 1 like myself who
is not dealing with insulin resistance.

The information and forums on dLife will provide you with a lot more
useful information than this newsgroup. Sadly it's long time posters,
especially Julie Bove, Ozgirl, Ozlover, outsider, Kurt Wheeling, and
Andrew B. Chung are more interested in trolling and fighting than
helping diabetics. They may post a couple of friendly followups to a
new poster to the group but will soon turn the thread into an excuse
for more back tsabbing, infighting and lying.

And then we have Damian...the liar!

And ironically the first to "turn" the thread ;)
