: You'd be surprised what landlords won't let you do sometimes. For

I lived in rental houseing all my youth and for well over 30 years of my
marriage before we got a great bargain on our apartment beign cooped. Had
some realy lice for landlords, never making repairs unils the city forced
them etc. Als quite restrictiv eon what you coul ddo. None told us not
to caulk.

In my lease it states that every change to the property, no matter how small, must be approved by the owners. At one house I broke a tap lever and replaced it with a better one. I was in deep doo doo over that one, lol. Pathetic is as pathetic does. I asked the current owner if I could put up a curtain rod in Jasmine's room, indicating that I would screw it in in an inconspicuous spot and fill any holes when we leave etc. It was declined. Even after I stated that the current curtains (the sort that hook onto runners) were see through and Jasmine strips down to her nappy the minute she walks in the door. That was declined. I have taken the light bulb out of her room which is upsetting to her and moved furniture in a way that her fan semi blocks the window (again which upsets her as everything has to be just so so for her or she loses the plot big time). If I create waves by contacting the tenancy board the owners could just find a way to ask us to vacate - it could be as simple as saying they want to sell the house and give me appropriate notice. If that happens we are up the creek as there is nothing as low as my rent around here anymore. Its all at least $420 a week plus. And we have a good landlord in comparison to other people. We don't have draughts by the way so caulking isn't needed here. All windows and doors are well sealed. Its just the large amounts of glass with inadequate curtaining that don't stop the heat and cold entering.
