it just might even alter what you now consider "common sense"

Afterall it is just  *your*  common sense, both his and mine are different

If I was to consider jumping out of a 20 storey window, common sense would
dictate that I would be unlikely to survive it, even if I read publications
to the contrary.

having said that - yes, I do agree that at times I have (as most of us have)
been misled by what i thought at the time was common sense.

There are only in the final analysis only good sense and bad sense.
And common sense at best only bares a tangential relationship to good
sense. Further consider who praises and appeals to common sense:
politicians,
preachers, and pundits.
