Both are welcome. As someone approaching being a T2, I have limited
opinion as to the issues of T1's or even those with late stage T2 DM
on
insulin.

Late stage T2 on insulin? Last I checked insulin is frequently used
with newly diagnosed type 2s.

I don't think that has been the protocol for many years. My dad, brother
and I are all type 2. I have had it for longer than they have. For all
of
us, diet, exercise and meds were no longer working. And for me? Seems
insulin isn't working either. Actually it doesn't seem to be working for
my
brother either. And we are frustrating our Drs.

But yes, statistics indicate that most type 2s will be on insulin if they
live long enough.

Did you even read any of the links you posted? Here's a quote from the
medscape one.

"To summarize, the early use of intensive insulin therapy to arrest
beta-cell decline is an interesting concept, but for now, the cornerstone of
early treatment of type 2 DM remains diet, weight loss, exercise, and
metformin. Tight control should always be the goal, provided that
hypoglycemia is avoided."
