Since decades and more of clinical outcomes have never demonstrated the dire outcomes the Hysterical Hand Wavers and Surrogate Marker Brigade warn of, this is sort of moot to anyone following what really matters.
Clinical outcomes matter most, everything else is a data point and a hint about which direction to make inquiries in.
