Oh, the speed of the drop. That makes sense, it's like if I eat

One question that occurs to me now is how could you get reactive
hypoglycemia if you weren't having spikes? I.e. what was the
reaction to?
The symptoms of reactive hypoglycemia primarily come from the speed of
the drop not the size of the drop, nor the resultant bg's - which may
or may not be low. Its not a foregone assumption though that everyone
with RH is like that. Some people do spike and get a drop. As it is
generally regarded as a pre cursor to diabetes it is more logical that
the bg's do not spike as they would for someone with diabetes. Phase
ii insulin response can still be quite robust in early diabetes. RH,
if seen in diabetics, is more often seen earlier rather than later in
the diabetes progression.
something that takes me immediately from 80 to 130 I also don't feel so
great, even though 130 post-prandial is not a high reading per se.
Thanks for the explanation. :)
People who are diagnosed at a high number find they get similar feelings
when bg starts to drop (especially if they low carb as the numbers can
drop dramatically). They have to get used to having lower numbers even
though the numbers are sometimes higher than ideal.
Interesting. I had an A1C of 11 and FBG of 300 when I was diagnosed. I
brought it down to normal ranges almost immediately (I could tell because
of the vision changes) - and never noticed any such feelings at all. The
only time I recall any problem at all was when I went swimming in very
cold water and BG fell to the 50's.
