Isn't it a truism that one cannot prove a negative?

It's not even a relevent question in this discussion, just a straw
woman.

Its absolutely relevant because of your statement: ""And there is
absolutely no net benefit in a woman over 50, none."

Actually, we don't know that there's no net benefit. We *do* know that
it's never been shown that there is. Any thought that there is is
merely wishful thinking, not based on any study which has demonstrated
it.

in conversations
with Ellen and her statin use. As most diabetics are likely to have
some degree of cardiovascular disease by the time they are diagnosed as
diabetics then it stands to reason that a 50 year old plus woman with
diabetes would need to be studied and the results shown so as to dispute
or not dispute your claim. There is only you and PP that are deviating
from the topic at hand using strawman tactics.

No study has shown that statins are of any real net benefit to any women
or any men under 65 or any men over 65 who haven't had at least one
heart attack. And even within the one population which has been shown
to potentially benefit, only a few do.

You can't throw out a
comment without expecting it to be disputed or discussed.

Well, by you, apparently not, since you seem not to understand the
difference between, "No-one benefits" and "no-one has been shown to
benefit."

Turning this on its head, where is the proof that statins prevent
fatal
heart disease in ANY women, let alone diabetic women?

Strawman. There must be proof if you can categorically say that statins
are of NO benefit to women, period. How did you come to this
determination or did you pluck it out of your butt?

Logic tells me that any diabetic regardless of age and gender with
typical symptoms of metabolic syndrome are going to benefit from statin
use.

Then you're using logic in a very odd way.
