Isn't it a truism that one cannot prove a negative?

It's not even a relevent question in this discussion, just a straw woman.

Its absolutely relevant because of your statement: ""And there is absolutely no net benefit in a woman over 50, none." in conversations with Ellen and her statin use. As most diabetics are likely to have some degree of cardiovascular disease by the time they are diagnosed as diabetics then it stands to reason that a 50 year old plus woman with diabetes would need to be studied and the results shown so as to dispute or not dispute your claim. There is only you and PP that are deviating from the topic at hand using strawman tactics. You can't throw out a comment without expecting it to be disputed or discussed.

Turning this on its head, where is the proof that statins prevent fatal
heart disease in ANY women, let alone diabetic women?

Strawman. There must be proof if you can categorically say that statins are of NO benefit to women, period. How did you come to this determination or did you pluck it out of your butt?

Logic tells me that any diabetic regardless of age and gender with typical symptoms of metabolic syndrome are going to benefit from statin use.
