And you ignore the reference and go straight to
the insult, Kurt.

That wasn't an insult, it was a suggestion. A real insult would go
something like this: "Sounds like glucose related dementia."

What gives?

Do you respond to everything posted here, Trig? I looked at your
study. It says something different than others that have been posted.
What would you have me say...that yours trumps all others? Hey, I post
stuff all the time that others don't respond to. Way it goes.

~39 mg/dL of glucose up, not a good thing in a diabetic..........Trig

There were other factors not figured in the study you posted. bj
pointed out a couple. If I were to take a statin and my bg went up an
average of 39 points even with my regular diet and exercise then I
would discuss alternatives with my doctor. Your study did not describe
which statin was used and it was based on the VA's "database."

Kurt

Likely the meds used are the ones in the VA formulary and
that does skip at least one of the statins apparently if
the current list reflects the past. But the way it
worded would suggest all the statins in the formulary or in
the patients medical records were lumped together.
But I take your point in that the statins do vary in
effect to some extent.

And the VA based records study has the merit of not being
short for example just 2 month but instead being over a span of
years. The other study with the link suggests problem may
come longer term on this class of meds which elevated insulin levels
and impair insulin function. And one of the med may help
with insulin function per one comment in the text. Pravastatin
seems to be the " better statin" compared to atorvastatin and
the others of this med class. The linked study page
provides several links to studies that indicate these members
of this drug family have negative effects on the onset of DM.

So I guess may look at pravastatin or
maybe I'll look at fenugreek.......................Trig
