Trying to replace some of the myths and heavy handed agenda driven
opinions with actual professional information:

http://www.webmd.com/cholesterol-management/news/20070606/review-show...

*This article is also on medscape.

Some excerpts:

"The benefits of taking cholesterol-lowering statin drugs far outweigh
the potential risks for the vast majority of patients with heart and
vascular disease, a new review of the research suggests."

"She estimated the risk for myopathy (muscle symptoms such as pain or
weakness) to be less than one in 10,000 for patients on standard doses
of the drugs."

The side effects and complications with these drugs are so rare, they
are miniscule, he says. But the potential benefits are great for
people with any kind of vascular disease, whether or not they have had
a heart attack or stroke.

As always, my personal and amateur opinion on statins is to read as
much "professional" information as you can and discuss your concerns
with your doctor.

Yeah well those are not all of the side effects.  I rather liked my hair.  I
only hope it will come back.  I like not having chapped lips and dry eyes.
And I like having my BG in normal or near normal range.

Julie, is it possible that those things are not side effects of
statins, but of other issues. No one I know who are taking a statin
have any of those side effects.
