I dont' think that's accurate Chris.
There are two pathways to burn fats: Beta Oxidatiion/Krebs cycle and
Ketone conversion/metabolism.
These are distinct pathways and unless insulin is very low and the
body is depleted of carbs/glycogen Beta oxidation predominates.

You're right, but when fats are being burned by beta oxidation ketone
burning is not turned off, just turned lower.

If your calories out > calories in and your not in ketosis, your
burning fat via beta oxidation/Krebs cycle. When most fokls lose
weight that's how it's done. I'll dig up some references if you like,
but this is standard physiology 101.

I agree but note that definitions vary as to what stage in the
shifting proportions of the two pathways constitute being in ketosis.
