We fired the assisted living doctor after one appointment and a phone
call insisting on putting my healthy, active MIL on lipid lowering drugs
(total 300, LDL 222, HDL 78) and bp meds (135/80) due to drug marketing
targets. My MIL's only health problem is severe short term memory loss.
Today I took her to a new PCP, an internist who's also division chief of
cardiology for a large health system. I told him the above, and he was
disgusted. Once I told her she had HDL of 78, he said, "she doesn't
need to lower anything." He also said, "If you ask her, she tells you
her memory is her biggest concern, why would you give her two drugs she
doesn't need that both worsen memory and cognition?"

For years I was telling my sons not to take creatine monohydrate. But
like your MIL I have short term loss too due to being a pump head
lipitor 80 mg till I said no more. I may try the creatine monohydrate.
