I just got my computer back from the shop. I was told it was infected with
viruses, one of which disabled my AV. They didn't tell me the names of the
viruses.
Some time back, I downloaded the CRON-O-meter because Alan S. and somebody
else (I forget who) was using it. I did like what the program did for me in
terms of telling me how many calories I was taking in and the nutrients
thereof, but... I also noticed that right after I downloaded it, my
computer was going slower and slower and I kept having to reboot it all the
time.
I uninstalled the program but the pesky toolbar it put on here remained. I
could not take it off. The best I could do was disable it. But then about
every third reboot or so, it would come back.
Now that the viruses are off of the computer, it let me take off the
toolbar.
So I am wondering... Do you think I could have gotten a virus from this
thing? Softronics claims it is virus free, but in a quick google search, I
see one other person claims to have gotten a virus from the download. I
will keep searching.

Did you and the other person download it directly from Softronics, or
from elsewhere? I've seen a few instances where the copy of a
program at its source was virus-free, but the copy offered at another
site had a virus added.
