I did panic last week when I saw the high numbers after "balanced" meals,
but seeing the better ones on the very-low-carb regimen has helped a lot.
My fasting BG is still high and I don't know what to do about that, for
example last night only one hour after dinner my reading was only 130,
then
I went to bed and this morning I woke up with 150.

You will see this referred to as a Liver Dump or Morning Syndrome.
Your liver decides to dump a lot of sugar into the bloodstream at that
time. Keeping the liver a bit occupied overnight often helps with
this. A protein/fat snack just before going to bed often helps with
this. A small amount of alcohol can also be useful in this regard - 4
ounces of red wine, for example. Try one for several days and test
each day. If it doesn't help, try the other for several days and test
and see it THAT helps. There really is a rather wide range of
responses people have, so test and see what works best for you.

In response to your above advice, last night I included 2 oz of cheese
(part-skim mozzarella string cheese) in the last meal, which was two hours
before going to bed, and this morning I was THRILLED to see only 129. I
have my fingers crossed that this won't turn out to be a fluke. Anyway,
THANK YOU!!!

Naturally, keep your doctor in the loop about what you're doing, and
make sure that your medicines don't say anything like "do not mix with
alcohol". And of course, some morning exercise can help burn off that
sugar and bring your BG reading down. Many people find it
inconvenient to exercise in the morning, but it's really the best time
if you can manage it. It makes you feel better all day.

So you disagree with the person who said not to exercise before breakfast?
