Not likely. Triglycerides reflect carbohydrate consumption, not fat or
protein consumption.

A funny thing happening on my way to/on the web:s

This "Triglycerides reflect carbohydrate consumption" claim has been
made here several times lately, so I had a look. My first port of call
was Wikipedia, which contained a link to "Your Triglyceride Level" of
the AHA (AHA, not ADA):
<http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=183#Triglyceride>

And that said:

"The main therapy to reduce triglyceride levels is to change your
lifestyle. This means control your weight, eat a heart-healthy diet, get
regular physical activity, avoid tobacco smoke, limit alcohol to one
drink per day for women or two drinks per day for men and limit
beverages and foods with added sugars."

And we all know what the "heart-healthy diet" (which is a link) says
and doesn't say, don't we!? :-)

No, I'm not making any point or trying to (dis)prove anything, but
just showing that you can come to any 'desired' conclusion if you put
your mind to it!

I thought it was/is funny.

I have to agree with Susan and Patootie on this one. I know from my own experience that a low carb diet will lower trigs.

After 3 months on the Atkins diet and losing 38 pounds, my trigs were never lower - 62. I am on a much higher carb diet today, about 200/day and my trigs are 201.
