Does anyone know whether diabetes is commonly used to deny coverage?
I'm not talking about switching from one plan to another, I'm
talking about trying to buy coverage as an uninsured person with a
pre-existing condition.
In 2014 health care insurance companies will be required to insure
everyone regardless of pre-existing conditions. However, ObamaCare
does not prevent them from charging according to the risk, so the
price will be the same or higher than today. If you are financially
unable to afford private insurance, in 2014 you could be insured by
the health care exchanges formed by your state. These exchanges are
to be set up with several different levels of coverage. The higher
levels will cost more of course. It is assumed that those unable to
pay for the higher levels will only be insured at the lower levels,
the lower levels will not include outpatient care, only hospital care.
So the message will still be "just die as quickly and cheaply as possible and get out of our way."
That's the change ObamaCare makes at a cost of over $1 trillion. I didn't vote for him/it.
