Follow-up -- I commend Scientific American for
going into significant detail to explain what's going
on in both the primary cause of Insulinitis (type 1
diabetes) and in the nanovaccine developed by
Santamaria to 'cure' the condition (in mice).

The following article provides a briefer explana-
tion with some additional perspectives that adds
to the picture previously provided, and closes
with a cautionary note regarding mice research
(something most readers are well aware of, the
difficulty of transferring promising mice research
on type 1 diabetes into actualized treatments
which work in humans).

The new word for type 1 diabetes, Insulinitis, is
used to supplement the old phrases to describe
the condition in the following article, and com-
ments in brackets [ ] added for clarification.

[refer to original post in this thread for details]

no-one will find the fictional words Insulinitis and Cellosis anywhere
in Scientific American.

Indeed, see supplemental nature of those new words
referenced above.

Fictional? No, simply new words to describe conditions
which, for around 1,900 years, have been referred to
as diabetes, and which, since the first paper on the
different types of diabetes were written in 1936,
were mentioned, sometimes, with various references
to the different types of diabetes, type 1 (aka, juv-
enile / juvenile-onset / insulin dependent / child-onset)
diabetes, and type 2 (aka, adult-onset / non-insulin
dependent / insulin resistant) diabetes.

As for the fact that the new words were introduced
late in March, 2010, in the diabetes newsgroups, don't
expect them to appear in widespread form for quite
some time, but do expect them to be referenced by
yours truly frequently, regardless of your steadfast
stance (lacking logic and reason) in favor of having
a close to 2,000 year old name for the two conditions
be central to all of the references to both conditions,
in perpetuity.
