I just spent the day walking over 10 miles through several electronics
stores price shopping and comparing features. Spouse wanted a new TV.
Decided he wanted a specific table/stand for it.
It weighed in at around 150+ lbs. Lifted it into the car, the sales
people can't lift heavy items into your car anymore - liability
issues. Pulled it out and hauled it up 2.5 flights of stairs.
Then went for the TV. The stand was purchased knowing it would only
hold up to a 47 inch flat screen. TV turned out to be a 55 inch. (got
a really good deal, sales clerk used to date a friend of mine here and
they are still on good terms as friends lucky she was with us) And too
big to fit into the car. So I lifted it onto the roof of the car.
Only about 100 lbs. As I was tying it down a nice gentleman walks up
and asks how far I live from the store. I tell him just down the road
bout 8 miles. He then offers to drive me and the TV home while the
other half took the car home. So I lift it off the car and into the
flat bed of the truck alone. The gentleman just had heart surgery a
few weeks ago and could not lift anything heavier than 10 lbs. We get
home, off load the truck (Gerry refuses our offer of cash for his time
and gas and says welcome to the state and leaves) and then up the 2.5
flights of stairs.
Then back down the 2.5 flights of stairs with the too small TV stand
and back into the car and back to the store to buy a larger and yes
heavier one. Then back into the car, home and back up the stairs.
Then we have to push the dresser with the 32 inch TV (older 200+ lb
TV) into the computer room and slide it onto the file cabinet. Then
rearrange the furniture in the bedroom to accommodate the entire
entertainment center from the living room with the even heavier 37
inch TV to the foot of the bed. Not even gonna try lifting that one
again. Then slide the dresser that used to have the 32 inch TV on it
back into the bedroom. Thankfully we have large coasters under all of
the furniture to make moving and cleaning behind things so much
easier. Just push and slide.
Later today I will assemble the stand and attach the new TV to it and
put it in place in the living room then cart off the boxes.
But I guess I am going to gain wait from all this TV use.
Power the TV off a generator attached to a stationary bicycle :-)

Throw away the remote so you'll have to get up to change the channels.
LOL I laughed so hard, it hurt!
Something I always find hysterical is when one misplaces the remote.
We can spend minutes upon minutes looking for it to assist in changing
a channel - when it would have taken seconds to simply push some
buttons on the tv itself.
We are programmed!!! :P

Not with our cable setup. It takes next to forever if you are going up or
down more than a couple of channels if you don't have the remote.
