I am sorry to hear that. Perhaps there is a way to correct this abuse
if your government has the will to do it.

Are your politicians the same as here in the US. Are they all whores
for the money? Do they simply represent corporate interests?

I ask because I wonder if the US is unique among the developed world
with our high level of corruption.

I am not going to comment on corruption, there are levels of corruption in
governement world-wide - developed or otherwise countries. I do feel the US
is unique regarding medical care though. Sometimes it is very hard to
believe it is so bad. You have world renowned doctors and are up there with
medical research but the general population have to fight to even get a
glucose testing strip or two extra a month.
