Totally agree Susan..

Michael...for me testing not only lets me know what I can eat but helps
me avoid surprises with foods I would have thought safe.

it also lets me make substitutions that are very tasty so I'm never
feeling deprived of anything I enjoy.

No reason to suffer through life when there's food options that are
delicious that wont spike you ...only way to know is to test.

I learned I can eat sweet potato better then pumpkin for example though
neither raises me much..but for xmas I made sweet potato pie using eggs
and heavy cream and splenda and a soy flour hazelnut crust..was
delicious I had a big slice with heavy cream and zero budge to my
meter..was as good as any pie I had pre dx.

So my point is I could A. suffer and eat raw spinach...B...eat junk and
spike and suffer the blurred vision etc that comes with it....or C. eat
my wonderful pie that I learned to make.

I personal pick C. what you pick is your call.

I agree KROM. The eat to the meter is a very good mantra. I do see that I may be able to expand my range of foods by simply testing. I am working on not freaking out over a high reading. As Susan says, it needs to be looked at as a data point and not a personal failure as I was seeing it.

if people can maintain their BG in a safe and healthy way eating real
foods I don't see a issue...but if people obsess and then when they
fail go nuts about it that's bad.

Exactly. My goals are more like yours. But I think it's worth
reminding Michael not to freak out about the occasional excursion up
to 140 while he experiments.
