In context of computer doohinkeys, the USB interface has been the way
to go for most of a decade, and for most consumer peripherals all the
other interfaces were abandoned several years back.

I think that somehow, most meter makers regard their computer
interfaces and cables not as necessities but somehow luxuries they are
going to make the user pay for maximally through rarity and obscurity.
