Re: OT blister on eye

My eyes have been driving me nuts for a couple of weeks. At first I
wasn't sure what the problem was but then I remembered the
blepharitis I had about 16 years ago. Seems it came back. I googled
and they seem to know more about it now. Can come from psoriasis or
eczema, both of which I have. I had been doing eye scrubs and using
artificial tears. They also say to take flax or fish oil. I take
flax.
Then last night at Angela's tutor's house, the dog who lives there
jumped all over me wanting to be petted. I am allergic to dogs but
they usually don't bother me and this one has never caused any
problems except for some sneezing. Until last night!

My right eye grew very itchy and then I couldn't see out of it. It
had swollen shut from a hive. The eyeball itself was swollen and
hanging out like jelly and there was swelling above and below on the
lids. Frequent eye scrubs and flooding it with allergy drops seemed
to help.
But then this morning there was an extreme burning sensation and what
I call swelling on the upper lid. I called the eye Dr. and they got
me right in. I saw a very nice woman who is not my regular Dr. She
said I did have blepharitis, seem to be suffering from allergies but
that what I thought was swelling was in fact a blister that popped!

Why oh why do I get all these weird things? Years ago I had the
blisters in my ears and now this!

She prescribed some kind of ointment which I could not get. The first
pharmacy just said they were out. The second said there was a
shortage and they didn't know when they could get it. They were nice
enough to call the Dr. and ask for a different ointment which I now
have. The relief was instant when I put the ointment in my eyes. Ahhh...

Keep antihistamines on you. I always have phenergan tablets and syrup on
hand here. Two of my kids have an instant reaction to bee stings (not
anaphylactic shock reactions). My step grandson once had an instant reaction
to black hair dye and we got some phenergan into him on the way to the
hospital. If my bee sting kids get bitten on the shoulder upwards they are
to have an ambulance called immediately. They swell around the site
instantly and if bitten on the neck, could be a disaster. They also develop
cellulitis very rapidly too, from the bee sting. The older one annoyed a
wasp's nest with a cigarette lighter and got bitten. We freaked and dragged
out the phenergan, piled in the car then noticed no swelling :) I slapped
him around a bit ;)
