I called in a refill for my Triamterene on Sunday. No refills
remained so they had to call the Dr. Took in my new prescription
for Lantus on the same day. They couldn't give me that because they
needed to call my insurance and they are not open on Sunday.
Doesn't the pharmacy have a record of what drug is allowed and when?
If the lantus is an already prescribed refill it seems strange that
the insurance company has to be rung every single time. I am so
thankful sometimes for the freedom of health/pharmacy choice here.
The reason they have to call is that the dose has been increased. It
was just increased two weeks ago as well, so I wasn't sure they would
approve another increase so soon. It would make more sense if the
Dr. would just write it out for say...20 more units than I am
currently using to allow me some leeway, but he seems not to want to
do this.
The thing that I find odd though is that I have *no* problems getting
my Novolog. I use it on a sliding scale. I seem to be able to get
as much of that as I want. I've only ever had problems getting the
Lantus.
Lantus is disgustingly expensive. Probably the reason Novolog gets passed
easily.
That could be. I was astounded at how expensive it was if I would have had
to pay for it out of pocket. There was no way I could at that price!
