I went to a Chinese buffet today because my wife and I were on the road. It
also had a nice looking selection. I picked out meat and then some
mushrooms and broccoli. There was a little sauce on the vegetable dishes..
These tasted sweet to me. I waited during my trip home waiting to see where
my BG was. I feared the worse.
It was only 84 45 minutes after the meal. I was pretty happy about that.. I
was afraid that sauce was really going to get me. I guess you never know
what will do it. Maybe the large dose of protein with that sauce helped.. I
don't know. I can bet it was not sweetened with splenda.

Testing at 45mins doesn't really show anything. Your food hasn't even been
digested yet. Granted sweet sauces will hit a diabetic faster than a slow
carb.
Did you test at 90mins, 2hrs or 3hrs? If not, then your test of 84 means
nothing.

You'll get mixed messages in this newsgroup about testing. A few push
the "one hour" testing as the bible and criticize others for not
testing then. However, these are the same people who advise a low carb
high fat diet which will delay a spike, so it is contradictory.
Personally, I rarely test at one hour and think 90 minutes or two
hours is the best. IMO, everyone should ask their doctor for a
professional opinion on when to test.
Ironically, I was just driving on "Pico" Blvd. earlier today. :)
