Hi Folks,

Some might have been concerned by sudden disappearance so thought it
would be considerate to let people know I'm OK.
Snipped for brevity

I am so glad to hear from you. I have been concerned and was about to ask
if
anyone had heard from you.

Mind you, I haven't been around much myself as my husband died to months
ago
and just to add to my misery I had an allergic reaction to Dilaudid. Coming
around now; just waiting for my back surgery.

Take care Quentin. You are a special treasure.

Martha,

I'm glad to see you pop in too!

Sorry to hear about the latest misery. Allergic reactions can be the
worst. When will you have your back surgery?

Best regards,
Michelle C., T2
I don't know yet. I haven't seen the neurosurgeon yet. The Physiatric and
Musculoskelatal specialist who is referring me said it will probably be
several weeks. It will be one to two weeks in the hospital and then one to
two months in the rehab hospital. Then back to the first guy for outpatient
rehab. Looks like winter is going to be a cloistered event for me. Thanks
for asking.

oh Martha, this doesn't sound like fun at all :(

do you have a laptop, or is there a place that will rent you one? and
will said laptop WORK in the hospital environment?

something to prevent boredom from setting in :(

Unfortunately, I sold my laptop. When I get to the rehab hospital, I won't
have much spare time. My sister-in-law just got out of there and they spend
most of the day in physio. They have TV and they bring a lot of
entertainment since you're more or less immobile. I'm not looking forward to
it, but I sure want to get rid of this pain and my back continues to
deteriorate. Just think 2 years ago I was in a 10K run and today I can't
walk 2 blocks without sitting down and giving my back a rest.

The other thing that concerns me, is how am I going to control my diet while
I'm in there. My endo likes what I'm doing so maybe I can get him to order
my "special" diet.

Thanks.

hmmmmmmmmmmmm

get to see if your endo has 'privileges' at the hospitals you will be at

if not, have him write a letter to your Dr with 'admitting privileges' at the hospitals you will be staying at

my endo indicated i would control/manage/medicate my diabetes as need be, and i would be supplying all equipment, supplies and insulin as needed

unfortunately, we are at the mercy of the hospital for Rx meds as we can't safely store them in our rooms (i guess psych lock-down would have your locker, but they only allow you 2 visits a day to the locker, or something silly like that)

that letter from your endo? make sure YOU have multiple copies of it to hand out at the hospitals!
