Thanks for the thoughts. She actually started with a physical
therapist two weeks ago and is slowly working into a variety of low
stress exercises. And you're absolutely right - just making little
changes can help a lot.
Sounds like she's getting the "exercise" part of the equation/management
system well under way. Just don't let her get discouraged at the inevitable
plateaus, set-backs, interruptions & layoffs (e.g. for illness), etc. etc.
etc. These things happen but you have to get right back into training, even
if it does mean starting several steps back from where you'd got to before
the layoff. BTDT.
This is a lifestyle change, not a temporary attack on a problem that can be
"taken care of" in some sort of measurable time-frame. And when the routines
get boring, too easy, or there are problems, don't be shy about going back
to the p.t. for a "tune-up". BTDTT (though that was in actual post-op
rehab.)
