Thanks Chris for emphasizing the hands as the primary infection route
with subsequent transfer to the mucous membrane of the mouth, nose or
eyes. Thus the public health instructions here concerning hand
washing with soap and water.
Our TV has emphasized that people shouldn't become complacent given
that the symptoms here have been mild. It was pointed out that the
devastating swine flu was like that the first Summer it appeared but
then it mutated and in the second year came back in a much more lethal
form.
Locally one school has closed and the pupils have been asked to go
into voluntary isolation. A group of students had returned from the
US. They hadn't been to Mexico but it is thought other passengers
might have.
