Then I guess it must be just a fluke that the many millions of us,
including
me, who follow the ADA's guidelines are doing just as well, or better,
than
those on this newsgroup.

Amazing, isn't it?

Yep. It truly is.

Unless you're an oldie returning you've only arrived here
this month. You have not mentioned anything about yourself.

So tell us a bit more about your diabetes, your numbers, and
how you have controlled it.

Impress us with the miracle of the modern ADA method.

Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.

Alan, I was diagnosed type 1 in 1960. At that time the only source of
decent diabetic information was the Joslin book, and the ADA Forecast
magazine. For 49 years I have followed the advice of my doctors, and the
information I mentioned. I am now 72 years young, and my every 6 months A1c
is usually around 6.0. I have not had much in the way of diabetic related
illness, or damage. The insulin regiman that I am now on, was developed
when I received my first meter during 1981. This coincided with a week long
class at UC Med center in San Francisco. At that time we developed a diet
for each individual in the class. Combination of 50% carbs, 40% protein,
and 10% fats. Still working for me today.

You don't often see me post here as a type 1 is definitely a minority.
