I would think anychange can effect bg numbers..you might be stressing over
wearing the mask for example.
Julie it took me 6 months or so to get used to the mask and i went between
two different types until now i use the one and love it..i too tossed and
turned at first afraid to lay wrong or didnt have the straps right so the
mask would squeek etc.
now its just good comfy sleep!
dont expect to get used to it right away and dont stress over it.

I was taking 90 units of Lantus at bedtime and this seemed like the ideal
dose for me. My BG was around 82 to 99 most of the time. Even the times
when I forgot to take my meds or my Novolog. Mostly I have been suffering
from extreme exhaustion and forgetfulness that is worse than usual. I
still don't know the cause. Could be adjusting to the CPAP machine or the
dregs of this illness that I've had since Dec.
Dr. upped me to 94 units of Lantus and then my BG shot up to over 200
where it has stayed most of the time. My lowest number on this dose was
163.
Yesterday I started getting painful muscle aches, mostly in my legs. It
was like it used to be when the Fibromyalgia was acting up. I had trouble
putting my stockings on because moving my legs in the manner I need to to
reach my foot was causing cramping in the calf. Same for attempting to
put my foot up on something. Hmmm...
This morning I woke up just exhausted. Can't remember exact number of BG
but over 200. At my usual breakfast which normally doesn't spike me at
all. If I do get a rise from it, it's only 10 to 20 points. But this
morning? 390! I knew something was wrong when I woke up and realized that
not only did I have to pee but my tongue was all dehydrated.
Since going on the CPAP, I have been going back to bed for a nap because
of the exhaustion, but most of the time I just can't bring myself to put
the mask back on.
Right now I just feel more exhausted than ever. And my stomach feels
weird like the gastroparesis is acting up. I am wondering if this is why
I had such high numbers this morning?
I wasn't particularly good with my diet. Had a taco salad on Sunday. No
sour cream or guacamole and ate only a small piece of the shell. So not a
lot of fat there. But perhaps too much fiber in all the lettuce? Had a
salad for my snack last night. Not a lot of lettuce in it though. Mainly
kidney and garbanzo beans, some green onions, a few grape tomatoes,
shredded carrot and a few black olives. What seemed to be the last straw
was dinner tonight. Had a hamburger with rice cheese and onion on a small
bun, a few potato chips, 3 black olives and a handful of celery and red
bell peppers. I am thinking that threw me into fiber overload. Maybe.
I just don't understand why my numbers went so much higher when I was
doing so well. Right now I feel like I should be in bed but don't really
want to lie down for fear of throwing up. I guess if I'm going to do it,
sitting up would be better. And I don't want to put on the CPAP mask if
that might happen.
I guess the other possibility is that I have caught yet another bug.
There is something going around in the schools (although I've not heard of
it in Angela's school) that they are calling the flu but it's a stomach
bug. Angela did say for the past couple of days that she didn't feel well
and kept having me feel her forehead. She said her stomach hurt and her
nose was really stuffy. The pollen count has been high and my allergies
are acting up.
