except for the fact that we still have most of the same senate and
members of the house that were in office with shrub.
And we're still "solving" our problems the same way--by throwing
tons of money at them which will be sucked out of our pockets right
back where it came from (with interest) if and when it ever gets
to any of our pockets.
AND, while the average guy is distracted by the cloud of money we're throwing at the problem, let's just grab thousands of pages worth of other money.
Obama is saying with one mouth that were not going to get out of
this in a hurry, but with the other he admits the bill is "imperfect"
(talk about understatement) and signs it anyway. A couple more days
to make it slightly less imperfect is intolerable?
"Throwing money" at the problem as you say, is the way to address the current economic meltdown according to most economists. If we don't solve it soon, and instead have a long Depression, our children and grandchildren will have a much worse economic picture to deal with than the future tax bill.
If you study the history of the Depression, FDR "threw money" at the problem and it did help (except for when he tried to recoup it too soon by raising taxes and had to reverse that). Problem was, he didn't spend enough. However, the biggest Stimulus plan proved to be the money "thrown" at WWII. At that time, the government debt was 24% of the GDP (in 1945), higher than it's ever been before or since. Currently, it is a little over 12%.
