I'm determined to beat my current crisis and be there to help to grow
to all she can be. Today I had a session with my multiple myeloma
oncologist which gave me some hope that this might indeed occur. His
opinion was that etoposide might be MORE successful with me than
expected since it was in combination with thalidomide and
dexamethasone. Put simply it was getting a triple whammy.

Best wishes,

So glad you have received some encouraging news. Fingers are crossed that
all goes well.

Thanks Martha,

Glad I posted that. On days like today when things are a bit
miserable it is easy to forget one had received good news.

I got a reminder to upgrade my Math Type.
I sat there for a while and thought

"What's the point?"

"Why bother?"

Oh, it's human.

Then I thought. Get a grip. Go on as if you intend to be alive and
well next year else you program yourself into dying. So I upgraded.

Thank you for the reminder that I DO have a better than expected
chance of a good outcome. I sure as heck need it.

a friend of mine that I cared for in his last few years used to piss
his friends and family off when they would come to him and tell him he
needed to stop spending his money on his hobbies, computer upgrades,
classes, etc because they felt that because he was going to die that
he was wasting his efforts. His standard reply to that type of
thinking was "I don't have time to worry about dying today, I'll worry
about it tomorrow." He lived 10 years longer than his doctors had
given him. He lived through some rough times but never so rough that
he couldn't enjoy some part of his day. The day he actually died, 1
year to the day after his spouse died, he expressed his gratitude for
a full life with no regrets(not in those exact words but that was his
meaning.) He knew he was done, he knew it was time and he was ready
to be with his spouse again.

Don't waste your time worry about something until it is time to do so.
Life is lived today.
