Re: Thyroid Cancer and secondary cancers

How very sad that a complete stranger -- would be such a predictable
ignorant do gooder-- I do not have a BUSINESS-- we founded a
nonprofit support group and a thyroid cancer awareness education and
support network services community with our OWN MONEY --not a
pharmaceutical or research grant -- after our 21 year old diabetic
daughter was diagnosed with stage II follicular variant papillary
carcinoma ( lymphatic involvement) after 3 years of misdiagnosis and
diagnostic testing failures.

My brother, uncle, cousin and co-worker all died of thyroid cancer in
the past 8 years -- the significant difference is that they were all
smokers elderly gentleman and I did not ever make the connection that
it could happen to anyone at any age - so when my child became sick
the very qualified doctor who provided primary care did not order the
necessary diagnostic testing that could have prevented my child from
progressing to such a precarious stage of disease.

She was misdiagnosed as adult onset ADD, we had her drug tested and
sought the help of a psychiatrist who diagnosed her as bi-polar ---
she gained weight and we put her on a diet with the help of a
nutrionist and hired a personal trainer-- she saw a cardiologist for
palpitations and hypertension - she developed migraines and muscle
weakness ---we did everything we could to help her and yet NO ONE
THOUGHT TO CHECK HER THYROID FUNCTION ---- by the time we focused and
decided to gather all her medical records and start fresh with a new
medical team she was uncontrollably hypertensive, morbidly obese,
suffering from sleep apnea,
with diabetic neuropathy and bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome, was
chronically anemic and vitamin D deficient.

Two doctors one visit we 2 weeks later the thyroidectomy and the
devastating news ---- we dont care about making money from our efforts
-- we did all the research we could to learn how to best help her and
provide her with long term wellness alternatives that integrated the
most recent medical research with comprenhensive alternative medicine
supportive therapies seeking to develop a plan for long term wellness
that could not only benefit her but help the counteless other young
women and men we have met in this journey.

Your out of touch ignorant and selfish comment inspires me and
motivates me to continue the community awareness and education
campaign we have started -- people who only use alternative methods
may very well be killing themselves at the same we recognize that not
all conventional treatments are best for everyone. An
intelligent educated person recognizes that if we are to live our very
best optimal life in a world with cancer we must first admit that we
do not know it all and the combine the best of all the solutions and
methods available to get well and live well beyond our health crisis.
