The Earth doesn't circle the Sun - both the Earth and the Sun
orbit the centre of gravity of the Solar System.

I cannot find a single cite that explains this, not even on NASA
website or google scholar searches, could you point me to a cite
please? And yes, orbits are elliptical.

http://www.wxresearch.org/papers/orbit2004.htm

is close enough for folk music!

And close enough to satisfy that I am right. "A common misconception is
that the center of the solar system is the Sun and the planets orbit
around the Sun. This is somewhat factual. The four inner planets orbit
the Sun, which is in orbit about the center of gravity of the solar
system. The five outer planets are the only true orbiters of the center
of gravity of the solar system. Therefore, the Sun should not be
considered the center of the solar system, the center of gravity of the
solar system should be considered the center of the solar system."

We DO orbit the sun. That was my claim and you have given me the best
cite to prove my claim :) The earth and the sun both orbit their system's
centre of gravity which happens to be within the sun. As opposed to the
outerplanets that have an actual barycenter outside of the sun.

Exactly! Glad for whatever assistance I may have provided. ;-)
