My dad totally reversed his pre diabetes, which was almost
in the type
2 diabetes range. He did it through diet and exercise
alone. The
doctor was planning on giving him medicine but my dad didn't
want to
take it since he figured he was already taking too much
medicine for
other things. To both of their surprise, he was able to
dramatically
lower his blood sugar in under 2 months.
Here is a good website to explain how that works:
http://www.diabetespreventiondiet.com
Diabetes is a progressive disease. It doesn't reverse or go
away.
If you go after it early, during the honeymoon as it is know
to the Endocrinologists. Early on you can counteract insulin
resistance while you bodies internal control system tells your
pancreas to up you insulin production. After the honeymoon
when the pancreas is maxing what insulin it can put into you
and your resistance to insulin is increasing diet and exercise
will not be enough. Your body is a neat control system. My
endo tells me that most bodies suffer 40% loss of sugar
metabolizing ability before the first sign of symptoms. He
tells me each year you lose 5% more so somewhere along the
line you need outside help to prop you up. I have been
diabetic 15 years. I had a heart attack after 10 years.
Just a few percent increase in your A1C will increase your
susceptibility to major organ failure by tens of percents.
Just be sure dad is aware that once the honeymoon is over he
better get on the meds and insulin or he will soon be
suffering the complications the disease has to offer. If he
has diabetes it wont go away. Make sure he gets his A1C
checked often. He should also monitor his BS 2 hours after he
eats. His average could be good but he may have huge organ
damaging BS spikes during parts of the day.
peace
