you calculate your premeal dose based on what you are about to

Okay. How do you know how much to take based on your current BG?
If it's 200 then how much? If it's 250 same question? And, God
forbid, if it is 300 or above, how much?

If my BG were 500 mg/dl for example I would take 16.6 units. And
yes my pump would deliver 16.6 units.

If I ate 15 grams of carbs I would get 1.5 units of insulin.

This is based on the ratios that work for me.

Holy cow! That would never work for me. I currently take 4 units
per 15 g of carbs, but another 4 units in the morning. That is if
my BG is between 90 and 130. If over 130, I take as follows. 131-160, 1
extra unit. 161-190 2 extra units. And like that. Adding by 30. But it
still isn't enough.
then it's WRONG

buy "using insulin" by John Walsh on www.amazon.com

I have it but was told it is not good information. He is the one
that said taking a hot shower while using Lantus can cause a bad hypo.

It can and so can hot baths.
