"louise" <louise@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote in message news:6faa9pFafsogU1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxI just got the FreeStyle Freedom Lite monitor. It is supposed to need very little blood.
I used the lancet at #1, then #2. I used it on the pad of my two middle fingers. I couldn't get a large enough drop of blood to get a reading. So then I used it on #3, which is pretty deep and I believe is supposed to be used for other parts of the body. Then I got enough blood but my fingers are sore.
Am I doing something wrong? Are their lancets particularly hard to use?
Is there a trick?
Thanks
Louise
As others said, use the side of the finger (beside the nail). It will be much less painful. Also, what is the color of the cap you are using with your lancet. I use FreeStyle and have never had any problems, but their devices do come with two caps. The clear cap is for the arm. If you are using that one, switch to the solid blue cap. That is the one that is intended for fingers.

I put the meter on the countertop in my kitchen. I don't even take it out of the little carry case, and I think that actually helps because the meter is then "lifted" a bit and is stabilized so it won't slide around. I then just move the side of my finger with the blood droplet to the side of the strip and wait to hear the beep (just a couple of seconds). Don't move the finger around or try to press it against the strip -- the blood will be absorbed quickly. You can steady your finger against the countertop. That is much easier than trying to do it without any support. I found this to be a very simple matter once I stabilized the finger and meter that way. The FreeStyle only requires a tiny drop of blood as long as you can hold your finger still in this manner.
