The figures aren't what one would expect given the titles for the
groups. The Mediterranean group and low fat group are virtually
identical for carbohydrate and protein. The fat difference is indeed
minimal.
Now there are a couple of points of interest. Firstly there is the
protein levels in all three arms of the experiment. In the past 14$%
protein was common for low fat diets. This made weight loss
difficult.
Secondly low fat has been typically 25% with 30% being set as the
upper limit. Here we observe low fat that is almost not qualifying by
that definition.
